در سال 1994 دفتر طراحی KB اسلحه عمل کننده با گاز باروت آزمایشی V-94 با کالیبر 4/12 میلیمتر را عرضه کرد که لوله آن بوسیله یک گلنگدن چرخشی قفل می شود.این اسلحه برای نابود سازی سربازان مجهز به تجهیزات حفاظتی سخت افزار زرهی سبک،جنگ ضد تک تیرانداز و از کار انداختن سخت افزارهای دشمن استفاده میشود.تأثیر لگد نسبتا بالای گلوله بسیار قدرتمند این اسلحه بوسیله فشار شکن دهانه با عملکرد واکنشی خنثی میشود.(گازهای خروجی و نیروی حاصل از آنها روی تیرانداز تأثیر نمیگذارد)،ضمن اینکه تأثیر دافعه قسمت انتهای قنداق چوبی آن نیز به این امر کمک میکند.

قبضه اسلحه از جنس پلاستیک ساخته شده است و دستگیره مسلح کننده اسلحه در سمت راست تعبیه گردیده است.این اسلحه با خشاب جعبه ای مستقیم 5 تیر تغذیه میشود.یکی از مشکلات اصلی سلاحهای کالیبر بزرگ ، طول آنهاست.

بنابراین V-94 با قابلیت تاشدن طراحی شد که برای حمل ، لوله اسلحه به سمت عقب و سمت راست تا میشود.در حالت تاشده ، ته لوله و بدنه پوشانده میشوند تا کثیفی و آلودگی وارد آنها نشود.در این حالت ،اسلحه را میتوان به راحتی با دست و یا در داخل وسایل نقلیه حمل نمود.

V -94 توانایی استفاده از سایتهای هدفگیری مختلفی را دارد که در بین آنها ، سایت هدفگیری روزانه بسیار توانمند 50 × 12 POS بیش از بقیه پیشنهاد میشود.امکان نصب سایت هدفگیری شبانه PKN بر روی این اسلحه نیز وجود دارد.از دوپایه قابل تنظیم اسلحه میتوان بعنوان تکیه گاه برای شلیک دقیقتر استفاده کرد،ضمن اینکه این دوپایه نیز قابل تاشدن می باشد تا حمل آن آسانتر شود.

این اسلحه پس از بهسازی ، تحت نام OSV – 96 وارد خدمت موسسات اعمال قانون داخلی روسیه و نیز مجموعه های وزارت کشور و FSB این کشور شد.

     In 1994 the KB Instrument Design Bureau had offered the 12.7 mm V-94 experimental gas-operated unit rifle with its barrel bore locked by a rotating bolt. This rifle is intended to annihilate a hostile manpower rigged with individual protection armored means, light armored hardware, counter-sniper warfare, and knocking out hostile hardware.

     A comparatively high recoil effect of the powerful cartridge is being absorbed by the muzzle break of reactive action (in doing so, the exhausted gases don't exert additional pressure on the shooter) and buffer effect of the buttplate of the wooden buttstock. The operational pistol grip is made of plastic. The operating handle is located to the right. The rifle is fed from a 5-round straight box magazine. One of the problems of the large caliber rifles is their length. The V-94 was designed as a folded version,  inportable state the barrel is hinged rearward to the right, in doing so, the breech plate face and receiver are covered to prevent them from pollution by a special device. In similar state the rifle can be easily carried with hands and stowed in transport means.

    The rifle can be equipped with various types of optical and night sights, namely, the offer is made for the possible use of a more powerful the day time POS 12X50 sight. The night sight PKN is optional. The adjustable bipod is used as the rest to fire the rifle. The hinge of the bipod is designed to turn it in the transverse plane relative to the rifle.

    After updating the rifle under the OSV-96 designation was adopted for service with the local law enforcement agencies, namely, subunits of the Interior Ministry and FSB agency.
